Union Minister of State for Skill Development, Ananthkumar Hegde , who recently took on the Siddaramaiah government on its plans to celebrate the birth anniversary of Mysuru king, Tipu Sultan, went a step further on Wednesday and described it as "anti-Hindu."  He also objected to Chief Minister Siddramaiah's criticism of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi saying he did not have the moral right to do so when the Congress "had failed to work for development during the many decades that it was in power at the Centre." "The country, which remained backward for the last 70 years, has been able to take the path of development under Modi's tenure for the past three years," he claimed.

Speaking at various venues where he was felicitated, Mr Hegde contended that the state government had failed on all fronts.  "None of the Central funds released in  recent times have been used for developmental work. The government did not even respond favourably to the Central scheme for supply of water to farmers," he charged, adding that upset with the unfair governance in the state, many senior officers were keen on shifting to Delhi and joining the Central services. Asserting that the BJP would win all 18 assembly seats in Belagavi in the coming  elections, he said the party's top leadership had conducted a survey to identify loyal candidates for fielding in the coming polls.
