Mysuru: Claiming that the 10.36 acres of land at the Eastern gate of Mysuru Palace belongs to them, the Mysuru royal family began leveling work at the site on Thursday. The place is used as a parking area of the Dasara exhibition ground.

Speaking to mediapersons, Rajmata Pramoda Devi Wadiyar said that there was a High Court order in this regard in May this year. “Yet Mysuru city corporation is yet to transfer the Khata to our name. As per the Court order, since the land belongs to us, we are taking the land into our custody,” she said.

She also confirmed that the royal family will celebrate Dasara for 11 days from October 1 to 11.

To a question on whether scion Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamraja Wadiyar  would enter politics, she said, “It is left to him.” Yaduveer said he would continue the Dasara traditions followed by his elders. To a question on him entering politics, he said he was not sure yet but at the moment, he planned to serve society.

His wife,  Maharani Trishika Devi Wadiyar who spoke to the media for the first time, said that she was happy to be part of the Dasara rituals this year and private darbar and would follow the traditions while seeking directions from her mother-in-law, Ms Pramoda Devi Wadiyar.
