Telangana Formation Day: Minority welfare dept has big plans

Jaleel said govt has entrusted the department with responsibility of organising various literary and cultural programmes.

Hyderabad: The Telangana state minorities welfare department has decided to begin Jashn-e-Telangana (Telangana Formation Day Celebrations) on Thursday with special prayers for rain and for the welfare of the state at 10 am at historic Mecca Masjid.

Syed Omer Jaleel, special secretary of the minorities welfare department on Wednesday said here that special prayers will also be organised at the South India Church, Secunderabad and Ameerpet Gurduwara. Besides, a blood donation camp will also be organised at Mecca Masjid after the special prayers.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Jaleel said that the government has entrusted the department with the responsibility of organising various literary and cultural programmes depicting the culture of the minorities living in the state.
He said that Muslims, Urdu-speaking people, Sikhs, Christians and other minorities are involved in the celebrations.

He said that Sham-e-Gazal programme will be organised at 7 pm at the LB Stadium and renowned ghazal singer Talat Aziz along other famous singers, will enthral the audience with ghazals by famous Urdu poets.

All-India Mushaira will also be organised at Quli Qutub Shah Stadium at 8.30 pm where famous Urdu poets from across the country will participate. Besides, a qawwali programme will be held at the Khilwat Grounds at 8 pm.

The Sikh community will organise a grand cultural programme at 5 pm while Christians will organise another special programme at 7 pm at the Hari Hara Kala Bhavan, Secunderabad.
