NEW DELHI/CHENNAI: Over six lakh students on Sunday appeared for the first phase of National Eligibility Entrance Test (Neet), a common medical entrance test for admissions to MBBS and BDS courses across the country.

According to CBSE officials who conducted the test, over 6.67 lakh students had registered for the exam. “Reports received by us suggested that there were around 8 per cent students who did not take the test,” a senior CBSE official said.

Meanwhile, students found the physics questions tough as it was based on application-oriented questions. State board students found the test tough while the SC’s recent order of mandatory entrance test for MBBS admission from this year made them nervous.

Meera M. from Coimbatore said, “For the Plus Two state board the chemistry equations and biology were easy. But the physics problems were tough to solve.” Ashwin from Gudiyattam said physics was filled with the problems and application-oriented questions. “We lost more time in solving the physics problems. But the biology and chemistry are relatively easier than the physics,” he said.

K.R. Vijay from Chennai found the chemistry equations confusing. However, the students who went for the coaching found it relatively easy.
