Trial in DYFI leader's murder case begins

There are 18 accused of whom one is a juvenile.

KOZHIKODE: The trial in the  Shibin murder case began  at the additional principal sessions court (Marad court) here on Tuesday with the examination of N.K. Kumaran, the key witness.

Shibin Bhaskaran, a DYFI worker of Nadapuram, was allegedly killed by IUML workers on January 22, 2015 at Thoonery near Nadapuram. The murder had led to widespread violence and arson in the region in which over 80 houses were destroyed.

Kumaran who had witnessed the murder also assisted in the hospitalization of the victims. He had identified the five accused and the weapons used in the attack.

There are 18 accused of whom one is a juvenile. The trial of the juvenile would be held at the juvenile court.  The cross-examination of the witness will be held on Wednesday.
