Hyderabad police top priority: women, road safety

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad and Rachakonda police commissionerates seek to make safety of women and children, and road safety, their priorities in 2020.

The police are planning massive awareness campaigns on self-defence for girls and working women, road safety, and also on cyber crimes and economic offences.

Recently, there have been brutal incidents in both the commissionerates where women and children were the victims.

Rachakonda commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said that improving surveillance in vulnerable areas in the commissionerate, reducing road accidents through education and enforcement, increasing the patrolling on highways, and improving travel time, are priorities for the year 2020.
Preventing cyber crimes and economic offences will also be important.

Cyberabad commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said that women’s safety would be the top priority for the police in the coming years. Steps will be taken to improve the effectiveness of Dial-100, and the police response to crimes. Programmes will be held on increasing digital literacy among students and vulnerable groups.

He said that programmes educating the public on new types of economic and cyber offences in co-ordination with various agencies to curb the activities of cyber criminals and fraudsters will be taken up.
