IAS, IPS officials rush for Covid test in Hyderabad

Several police, senior and mid-level IAS officials have been rushing to get tested for Covid-19 over the past couple of days in the city

Hyderabad: If there is one thing the emergence of the Omicron variant of concern of the Coronavirus has done in the state, it is a rush to get tested for possible Covid-19 among top officials of the government.

Several senior and mid-level IAS officials, as well as officials from the police department have been rushing to get themselves tested for Covid-19 over the past couple of days in the city, sources in the health department said.

“There has been a rush of requests for RT-PCR tests from many IAS and IPS officials. The requests have seen a surge since the news broke about the emergence of the Omicron variant,” a Telangana health department source told Deccan Chronicle.
