Representatives from Jacto-Geo meet mins, place demands

Chennai: Firming on their stances, the representatives of Joint Action Council of Teachers and Government Employees Organisations (Jacto-Geo) met minister D. Jayakumar and placed their demands at the secretariat here on Friday.

The representatives, who had have continuously been protesting to fulfill their demands, submitted petitions including scrapping new pension and implementing old pension scheme. Jayakumar assured the members that they can meet CM Edappadi K. Palaniswami, if necessary. Sources said that at a time when members from Jacto-Geo announced protest on Dec. 4, such meeting assumed significance.

 Speaking to DC, K. Thiyagarajan, spokesperson, Jacto-Geo, termed the meet 'unsatisfactory'. "Even as we expected some development, no assurances were given. We will again sit and hold talks about further action," he said, adding that they would decide about strike on Saturday.
