Let's celebrate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary: BS Yeddyurappa
The former CM also said it was necessary to make students aware about the contribution of Patel to the country.
Bengaluru: BJP state unit President B.S.Yeddyurappa has advised party cadre and MLAs to celebrate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary in each Assembly constituency from 2017.
While attending the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel (Rashtriya Ekta Divas) here on Monday, Mr Yeddyurappa said, “As suggested by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah, we should recall the contributions of Sardar Patel by celebrating his birth anniversary.”
The former CM also said it was necessary to make students aware about the contribution of Patel to the country. The Congress has ignored the contribution of Sardar Patel and Dr B.R. Ambedkar to the country and was more keen on celebrating the birth anniversaries of Gandhi family members, Mr Yeddyurappa criticized.
“Mahatma Gandhi advised the disbanding of the Congress party after India got independence, but Congress leaders ignored his advice. Now, people have decided to make India Congress-free following its failure to rule the country effectively”, the BJP president remarked.
“If Sardar Patel had become the Prime Minister of India instead of Pandit Nehru, the scenario would have different and he would have found a permanent solution to the Kashmir problem. Without adopting a farsighted approach, the Gandhi family has ruled the country and we are facing the Kashmir problem because of that”, Mr. Yeddyurappa claimed.
Union Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda said that to protect the sovereignty of the country, there should be a uniform civil code in place. “There is a common civil code in all developed countries, but India doesn’t have one, there is a need for such a law,” he said.
