Kamareddy: Laban Lambadis staged protests in Kamareddy on Saturday demanding to be retained in the Scheduled Tribes (ST) list from the Backward Classes (BC) list. They also demanded the establishment of a Laban Lambadi corporation and the issuance of land titles for podu lands.

Laban Lambadis from Kamareddy, Nizamabad, Nirmal, Adilabad, and Sangareddy districts participated in the protest. They gathered at CSI grounds and staged a dharna at Nizamsagar Crossroads. They tried to enter the District Integrated Offices Complex (DIOC), but police prevented them.

Police also made preventive arrests of Laban Lambadis in Kamareddy district.

The protesters raised slogans against the BRS government and recalled that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had assured them that Laban Lambadis would be included in the ST list. However, Laban Lambadi leaders are also planning to contest the Assembly election as a mark of protest. A few Laban Lambadis were injured during the protest due to police chasing.
