Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam receives Rs 6.78-crore ONGC funds

2nd instalment to be released soon, says ONGC officer.

TIRUPATI: The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), has released Rs 6.78 crore to the TTD under the “Swachh Bharat Iconic Places mission” envisaged by the Government of India. ONGC director for  (Human Resource) D.D. Mishra called on TTD executive officer Mr Anil Kumar Singhal in Tirupati on Monday and handed over the cheque for Rs 6,78,25,800 towards the Swachh initiative.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr Singhal said, “Tirumala has been selected under the Swachh Bharat Mission finding the prominent place as one among the top 10 places in the 100 Iconic heritage, spiritual and cultural places in the country in the first phase itself. The ONGC has come forward to fund '13 crores towards the mission in Tirumala. Today they released about '6.78 crore as first instalment grant. I thank ONGC for their initiative.” Complementing the eff-orts of the temple management of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in taking forward the Clean India campaign in an effective manner in various aspects, Mr Mishra said, “Under the Swachh Bharat Mission initiative, the Centre    has taken up special clean-up initiative focused on Swachh Iconic places. Today we have released '6.78 crore out of '13 crores to the TTD. The second instalment will also be released soon. We thank TTD and its administrative chief Anil Kumar Singhal and his team of officers for the Swachh initiatives to keep Tirumala and its premises clean and hygienic.”

Earlier, the TTD executive officer along with TTD Chief Engineer Chandra Sekhar Reddy presented Power Point Presentation report over the various activities, including waste water management, conventional energy resources, health and sanitation and other various aspects undertaken by the TTD.
