Parappana Agrahara Central Jail

Bengaluru: Director General of Police H. N. Sathyanarayana Rao, who was shunted out as DGP & IGP (Prisons) following allegations of irregularities and corruption at Parappana Agrahara central jail, was given posting on the day of his retirement.

Mr. Rao was transferred without any posting following the allegations. As it was necessary for the government to give him a posting as he was retiring on Monday, the government issued a notification posting Mr. Rao as DGP & Commandant General, Home Guards, Ex-officio Director Fire Force in the existing vacancy, relieving DGP Neelmani N. Raju of concurrent charge.

On the last day of his service, Mr. Rao took charge in the new position, completed the formalities and returned from the office within a few hours, thereby hanging up his boots.

Meanwhile, the government in the same notification placed Neelmani N. Raju, DGP of the Internal Security Division, in concurrent charge of the post, as it fell vacant due to retirement of Mr. Rao. The notification was just an exercise to facilitate Mr. Rao fulfill his retirement formalities.

Meanwhile, ADGP Ashit Mohan Prasad, who was heading Communication, Logistics & Modernization wing of the police department, is promoted to the grade of Director General of Police and is made the DGP of Intelligence wing. He is replaced by ADGP Praveen Sood, who was Bengaluru Police Commissioner.

Mr. Prasad was promoted as a DGP post was lying vacant due to retirement of DGP H. N. Sathyanarayana Rao, who superannuated on Monday.
