 Hyderabad: B.V. Papa Rao was appointed as the new director of Advanced Systems Laboratory (ASL), DRDO. With over three decades of experience, Papa Rao, a mechanical engineering graduate from Andhra University in Visakhapatnam, specialises in designing and developing cutting-edge propulsion systems, gas generators, auxiliary motors, and thrust vector control systems for solid motors.

Throughout his career, he has made significant contributions to the research and development of advanced propulsion systems and other critical subsystems. His work has been instrumental in the development of Submarine Launched Ballistic Missiles and long-range Agni Missiles.
