Thiruvananthapuram: Soon consumers in the state would be able to order a Milma pack via a mobile app and get it door delivered.

The state-owned milk brand is gearing up to launch its online ordering platform and home delivery service from June 1.

The plan is to pilot the ambitious project in the state capital here where the Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation is holding 65 per cent of the branded milk market.

The cooperative has tied up with AM Needs, a private agency, to develop the online platform and doorstep delivery of a wide range of Milma dairy products.

“Thiruvananthapuram consumes around 2.15 lakh litres of Milma milk per day," an official said.

“After the trial run here, we would launch the service in Ernakulam and Kozhikode, which would happen this financial year itself.”

To begin with, the authorities are planning to make available the service at selected places in the city limits.

Pattom, Kazhakoottam, Kowdiar, Ambalamukku and East Fort are the places chosen for the trial run.

“Delivery would be from 5 am to 8 am every day. Initially, the registered customers can order milk, curd and butter,” he said.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Milma launched milk products fortified with Vitamin A and D which would hit the market on Wednesday.  Currently, Milma is marketing two types of milk - toned and double toned.

However, it hasn’t hiked the price of the fortified product.

The official said that the price of the milk product would remain the same.

Milma is rolling out fortified milk with the technical support from Kerala Commissionerate of Food Safety.
