Chennai: Had not for the 'scared' city police who arrested the youths ,the country would have witnessed another mass protest in Marina Beach, this time for the sake of Tamil Nadu farmers.

Although the Marina protest in 2017 had culminated in unwarranted incidents of arson and stone pelting, the victory it had brought with has been stamped in his-
tory.

However, embers became 'forest fire' after the police attacked and arrested hundreds of protesters in Madurai district on January 16.

A handful of apolitical students gathered at Marina Beach and circulated the photos of their protest.The number had proliferated into lakhs. The police and the government had caught off-guard. Many politicians lauded the protest as historic and the protest won the jallikattu for Tamil Nadu.
