Rahul Gandhi keeps top Kerala leaders in crucial panels

Seven Congress leaders from the state have found a place in the crucial committees constituted by party president Rahul Gandhi.

Thiruvananthapuram: Seven Congress leaders from the state have found a place in the crucial committees constituted by party  president Rahul Gandhi for the forthcoming plenary session of the party.      They are  A. K. Antony, K. V. Thomas, P. C. Chacko, K. C. Venugopal, Shashi Tharoor, Shanimol Usman and V. D. Satheesan.

Mr Antony, CWC  member,  has been included in the 11-member  economic affairs committee  headed by P. Chidambaram  and Jairam Ramesh as convener.  “Antony has been included  in the four committees on  economic,  political, drafting and international affairs. This is for the first time in  recent history that  seven leaders from Kerala have  found a place in the various committees for the plenary session,”  said a top Congress leader.

Alappuzha MP and AICC general secretary in charge of Karnataka K. C. Venugopal,  AICC in-charge P. C. Chacko  and the KPCC political affairs committee  member Shanimol Usman  have been included  in the  organising committee. MPs K. V. Thomas and Shashi Tharoor and KPCC vice-president V. D. Satheesan MLA  are in the 44-memebr drafting committee    headed by former prime minister Manmohan Singh.  AICC general secretary in charge of the state, Mukul Wasnik,   is  the convener.

Tharoor is also in  the   sub-group on international affairs headed by Anand Sharma and Jyotoraditya Scindia as convener.  K. V. Thomas is in the sub-group on agriculture, employment and poverty alleviation. Former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is the chairman and AICC general secretary Meenakshi Natarajan is the convener.
