A major fire accident occurred in an apartment at the Parishkar-1 Complex in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Friday when a woman tried to save her children in a dramatic way.
She tried to drop her children from the fourth floor of the apartment building at Khokhra when some men carefully caught them, and moved them to safety. In the viral video, the woman is seen lowering a child from the fourth floor, surrounded by thick smoke, when the residents of third floor acted quicky and caught the child dangling from the top floor.
The two men who managed to bring the infant to safety, later rescue the young girl, who tried to move to safety by hanging to the wall from the top floor.
Meanwhile, on information, the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) responded and dispatched seven fire engines to the apartment.
Over 18 residents were rescued from the fire at the apartment complex. No casualties were reported.
The cause of the fire, that broke out around 3.30 pm, is still being investigated.
A fire official said that the fire began in a vertical wire duct that connected the building's ground floor to its top floor. Many of the residents were trapped inside their houses as the staircase was filled with smoke, not allowing them to move due to poor visibility.
The fire mishap is the latest in a series of incidents reported across Gujarat in the recent past.
In March, a major fire broke out at the Vapi area in Gujarat Valsad district destroying 15 scrap warehouses.
Earlier, a fire broke out at the Kamdhenu Gau Seva Trust in Gandhidham.
