Rajanagaram police have arrested two persons for allegedly killing a dog with a country-made gun in the Bridge County Apartments area.

Rajanagaram Circle Inspector Narsaiah Goud said residents of the gated community had been facing problems due to monkeys. The two accused were engaged in driving away monkeys and stray dogs by using a country-made gun that produced a loud sound. However, during the operation, a bullet fired from the gun struck a dog, killing it on the spot.

Police have registered a case against the accused and launched an investigation. Meanwhile, Animal Rescue Organisation secretary Vijay Kishore Palika condemned the incident, saying the gunfire raised serious public safety concerns. "While this incident is deeply distressing from an animal welfare perspective, it also raises profound concerns regarding public safety. The use of a country-made firearm in a residential area endangers both animals and residents," he said.
