Police traced Kolander via his mobile location. In 2012, an Allahabad court sentenced him and his brother-in-law Birichraj to life, deeming it a "rarest of rare" case. Kolander's diary, found during the Dhirendra Singh investigation, confessed to 14 murders.
Police discovered human skulls, including those of Ashok Kumar, Muin, Santosh, and Kali Prasad, at his farmhouse. He cooked brains and made soup from the skulls. His crimes inspired the Netflix documentary Indian Predator: The Diary of a Serial Killer, which gained widespread fame.
