Andhra Pradesh: Vigilance officials seize milk products

Visakhapatnam: The officials of Vigilance and Enforcement Department in coordination with the Food Safety wing of GVMC and Civil Supplies conducted surprise raids on some godowns and seized the milk products that had crossed the expiry dates here on Wednesday. 

The officials, raided the premises of P. Suryakumari Agencies located in Vuda Colony near Madhavadhara area and seized the products and took into custody its owner K. Ganesh Kumar. 

DSP of Vigilance and Enforcement Department C. Murali Naidu said that the accused was running the store and two godowns without a valid licence. The officers said the store was unauthorised and the expiry dates of the milk products such ghee, biscuits, chocolates and skimmed milk had lapsed. 

A case is booked under Sec. 6 A of the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act and the accused is handed over to the Civil Supplies department for further action.
