Congress leader hacked in Kannur

The CCTV cameras in his bakery were destroyed during an RSS hartal recently.

KANNUR: A retired teacher was hacked at his bakery shop at Pathayakkunnu, Paty-am, on Monday, allegedly by RSS-BJP workers. Sukumaran, Mullantavida house, block executive member of Congress party in Kuthuparamba, had retired  from Paral Upper Primary School, near Kuthuparamba. Sukumaran, who was attacked  soon after he opened the shop in the morning, suffered fractures in his  hands and legs.

He  was admitted to the  Indira Gandhi Cooperative hospital, Thalassery. The food items in  the shop were also destroyed. He had verbal clashes with the BJP men of the area on a few occasions.  The CCTV cameras in  his bakery were destroyed during an RSS hartal recently.  On the basis of his complaint, the police had arrested Nidhin Raj (28), an RSS worker on Sunday. The attack  is suspected to be in retaliation to Nidhin’s arrest.
