Officials said the incident was reported at the airport early yesterday morning when a passenger flying to Chennai complained to CISF officials that he has lost his wallet in the terminal area containing Rs 1,650 cash, a credit card and a few personal ID cards.

A CCTV review revealed that another man, identified as R G Mane, post his security frisking reportedly picked up the wallet of the Chennai-bound flier from the security hold area, took out the cash and threw the wallet in a dustbin. Mane later boarded his flight to Ranchi.

"The passenger, S Teotia, who lost his wallet had lodged an e-FIR with Delhi Police. As soon as Mane landed in Ranchi, he was detained by CISF and local police and was sent back on the next flight to Delhi. He was arrested and booked for theft," an official said.
