Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday upheld the School Education Department’s decision to withdraw the recognition of a Quthbullapur-based school, for submitting fake documents to get approval.

The court said that the provisions of  Educational Institutions (Establishment, Recognition, Administration and Control of Schools under Private Managements) Rules, 1993, should be followed strictly. The court also found fault with Genius High School at Subhash Nagar in Quthbullapur for submitting fabricated lease documents relating to the school premises, where it was established.

The division bench, comprising Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice C.V. Bhaskar Reddy, was dealing with an appeal filed by Genius High school challenging the single judge order, which upheld the school education department’s decision to cancel the recognition accorded to the school.

Challenging the order, the school contented that, “In the middle of the academic year, the recognition was cancelled on the grounds that it had submitted fake lease documents. Moreover, those papers were submitted long ago.”

The school argued that the students’ lives would get spoiled if the recognition was withdrawn. However, the District Educational Officers submitted to the court that they had adjusted the children of the school in the nearby schools.

After perusing the records, the single judge did not agree with the contentions raised by the school and ratified the decision of the school education department.

The school, however, challenged the order by filing an appeal, which was heard by the division bench headed by the Chief Justice and upheld the decision of the single judge.
