GHMC: Some techies were on deputation

The Hyderabad Central Crime Station has filed chargesheets in the Nampally Criminal Court against GHMC engineers.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Central Crime Station has filed chargesheets in the Nampally Criminal Court against GHMC engineers and contractors who are alleged to have siphoned off funds meant for clearing the silt in the nalas by falsifying bills. The GHMC’s Chief Engineer, K. Suresh Kumar, said that around 23 engineers have been named. “We conducted a probe and submitted a report to the state government. As some of the engineers were on deputation from other departments, the state government is the competent authority. We have asked for disciplinary action against these engineers. Once permission is granted, charges will be framed for departmental disciplinary action. The CCS case is a parallel criminal investigation.”

The CCS police arrested 18 GHMC contractors on April 28 this year: P. Praveen Kumar, P. Raju, S. Srinivasa Reddy, Taduri Ramchandra Reddy, Vemula Mallesh, E. Venu Gopal, Bodusu Venkatesh, Bontha Srinivas, Varikuppla Srinivas, B. Shekar, V. Mahesh, Bontha Mallesh, V. Krishna, Varikuppala Yadaiah, B. Ellaiah, Varikuppla Ravi, Yaparla Chakravarthi and Gandikota Narender.

The GHMC engineers arrested include Shankar, Santosh, Papamma, Srinivas, Ashok, Kameswari, Lal Singh, Mohan Rao, Vasidhar, Prerna, Naidu and Zameel, all of the GHMC Central Zone.
