10 held gambling; cops deny BRS links
Hyderabad: The Medipally police on Sunday night caught red-handed a group of around ten persons while they were playing cards in a residential flat at Peerzadiguda.
It was widely rumoured that they were BRS leaders from Peerzadiguda Municipal Corporation, that the flat belonged to the party and that a huge amount of cash used for betting was seized. Police denied that any BRS leader was caught.
“Some office boys and drivers were caught. It's not a party Office, first of all. It's a private property," Rachakonda commissioner D.S. Chauhan said. "We are taking strict necessary action as per the law against the people caught red-handed," he said.
According to sources, police raided a flat near Sai Priya Circle in Peerzadiguda and caught the accused. Videos from the spot after the raid went viral on social media platforms. Police did not announce the names of those caught and the details of the seizure till the last reports came in.
