Malappuram: Teacher arrested for child sex abuse

Around 10 sexual abuse cases are under investigation.

Malappuram: The Areekode police on Friday arrested Ashraf Faisy, a teacher at a private school, for sexually abusing  minor girls in the school.   The school authorities had suspended Ashraf the other day after the children’s parents complained against him  for groping the girls aged 9-11.     According to the district Childline unit,  eight children had made the same complaints and the police  registered two cases against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

In another case,  the Tanur police booked a teacher under POCSO for abusing an 11-year-old girl,  a sixth standard student of  a private aided school at Tanur.  The  accused would be arrested soon, police said. The Kolathur police took a youth into custody in connection with an earlier POCSO case for sexually abusing a 13-year-old  eighth-standard student.She  was trapped by the staffer of a private bus and raped at various places. The district  witnessed 16 POCSO cases at various police station limits this month and around 10 sexual abuse cases are under investigation.
