Tirupati: A 35-year-old man died after he jumped out of a moving auto-rickshaw during a heated argument with his wife near Lakshmi Puram village in Thottambedu mandal of Tirupati district. The deceased has been identified as Kotlapati Subramanyam, a brick kiln worker.

The incident occurred late on Wednesday when Subramanyam and his wife were returning to their native village Gnanamma Kandriga in Thottambedu mandal after attending a ‘Shraddha’ ceremony of a close relative at Rajula Kandriga in KVB Puram mandal.

The couple started arguing over a family issue while travelling home in the auto rickshaw. The argument escalated to a point wherein an angry Subramanyam lost his cool. He took the drastic decision of jumping out of the moving vehicle.

Subramanyam sustained severe injuries. Other family members travelling in the same auto rushed him to the government hospital in Srikalahasti. Doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police have registered a case and are investigating.
