Telangana: 2 women held smuggling ganja

The cops recovered 50 kg ganja worth Rs 7.5 lakh.

Hyderabad: Two women who were smuggling ganja on the Mumbai-bound LTT Express were arrested by the railway police on Monday. The cops recovered 50 kg ganja worth Rs 7.5 lakh from them. The arrested persons are Korra Jamuna, 30, Gabburu Kanthamma, 28, and Anukkam Mutti, 35, all hailing from Odisha.

Police said the three suspects hailing from Padav in Koraput district were labourers. The three were engaged by the main suppliers by offering an attractive commission for delivering the narcotic to their handlers in Mumbai. The three concealed the dry ganja in small bags tightly wrapped with teflon and naphthalene balls, incense sticks and room fresheners were sprayed over them. The small packs were again packed in luggage trolleys.

They boarded the general compartment of the Visakhapatnam to Mumbai LTT Express. When the train reached Secunderabad on Monday morning police teams who were checking the train saw the women in suspicious circumstances and apprehended them. They confessed that they were smuggling ganja to Mumbai. Police arres-ted the three and seized the drug. They were produced in court.
