8 held from TS, AP for trolling leaders

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Cyber Crime police caught eight persons from both Telugu states, who were operating social media accounts with anonymous identities and trolling public representatives including a woman MLC from Telangana state.

The arrested persons are not affiliated to any political party and do not have any political motives, but were doing it for ratings and more views, police said.
“These persons are targeting public representatives including a woman MLC from Telangana state and circulating morphed images of them. This case is to send out a strong message and also to warn them of strict action even if they circulate such images of even a common citizen. Notices have been served on these eight persons under section 41A of the CrPC,” said Hyderabad Cyber Crimes DCP Sneha Mehra.

Mehra said that the content posted against the woman MLC is vulgar and indecent. “If a person cannot respect an elected representative, how can you expect them to respect a common woman,” she said.

During the past month, 20 cases have been registered against owners of various social media accounts that are spreading objectionable, defamatory and insulting morphed videos against various public representatives.

“All these people are in the age group of 20-30 years and college dropouts. If not acted upon, this trend may lead to lawlessness,” the police said.

The accounts involved in such activities are TrollerKurradu @trollerkurradu4308 owned by Attada Srinivasa Rao of Vizayanagaram, Massabbayi @MrMassabbayi owned by SirasaniManikanta of Kadapa, Yankamma Tolls owned by Baddanj Sravan of Nizamabad, Telugu Trolls New owned by Motam Srinu of Warangal, Chimtu Trolls owned by Peraka Nagavenkata Jyothi Kiran of Krishna district, Team of Trolling Banthipuvvu Trolls owned by Vadluri Naveen of Jagityal, Chandu Trolls owned by Bolli Chandrashekar of Karimnagar and another account operated by Chevilopuvvu Billa Srikanth of Kadapa.
