Bengaluru: Revenue official held over bribery charges

Bengaluru: The Assistant Revenue Officer of the Mahalakshmipuram BBMP Ward was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials after he was trapped while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh.

The arrested officer has been identified as Lingaiah. According to ACB officials, a resident of Nagarabavi had applied for Khata transfer on behalf of his friend. The accused ARO had allegedly demanded Rs 2.5 lakh for the same and the applicant filed a complaint with the ACB.

“On Tuesday, a trap was laid and the accused ARO was caught red handed while accepting '1 lakh as advance from the complainant. He was arrested as per the procedure,” an official said.
