Hyderabad: Lovers try to end life, minor girl survives

Hyderabad: A minor girl and her 25-year-old lover, attempted suicide by hanging from a tree at Chengomul in Vikarabad district on Thursday night, fearing that their parents may not accept their marriage. The man who used a wire for hanging, died, and the girl was saved as the veil she used loosened.

The Chengomul police have registered a case of suspicious death. According to police, Mahesh, 25, a native of Chengomul, was arrested in a POCSO Act case, when he took away the girl, about a year ago, following a complaint from her parents. He was arrested and sent to judicial remand. For four months, he was in the jail. Recently, he was on bail and again met the girl at her school.
