Tamil Nadu: 3 rearrested for theft in school after 13 years

Tirupur: In a strange case, three persons were re-arrested here on Wednesday in connection with a theft at private school almost 13 years after the incident.

According to police, a gang had barged into Vivekananda Vidyalaya Matriculation School in July 2004 and assaulted security guard Raju. They broke open the office and stole Rs 50,000 cash and fled the spot on two motorbikes parked there. 

Police inquiry revealed that an eight-member gang was involved in the looting. A special team had arrested Arumugam, Mani, Neethi, and Krishnan in 2004 and the cash and bikes were recovered. However, four of them including Rajesh, Mani, Ganesh and Murugesan later absconded. Rajesh, Mani and Ganesh were arrested based on a tip-off.
