Chennai: Police on Wednesday arrested six persons,  all graduates,  for kidnapping a man from K.K. Nagar a day ago. A month ago, the group had filed a cheating complaint against the son of the man they kidnapped claiming that they were each cheated of Rs 2 lakh by promising jobs.

Police sources said M. Imran ran a placement agency in Valasaravakkam and had collected Rs 2 lakh from graduates across the state promising them jobs abroad.

However, Imran failed to do so following which those who paid money started pestering him to return the cash. Imran kept on dodging them and on Tuesday, a group of six men descended on his house in K.K. Nagar. While Imran was not there, his father Mohammed Rafiq was in the house and the gang forced him into a car and escaped from there, police said.

Based on a complaint, police traced the kidnappers using the mobile tower location and rescued Mohammed Rafiq on Wednesday morning. Police investigations revealed that Imran has been absconding since the CCB began investigating the cheating complaint. Meanwhile, police arrested the kidnappers- Prasanna (27), K Aravind (24) and four others involved in kidnap.
