Rajahmundry: Andhra Pradesh Women Commission chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari assured efforts with the state government to set up electronic surveillance at tourist centres to ensure safety to the visitors in the state.

The chairperson arrived to the house of slain Sridharani and M.M. Puram of Bhimadole mandal in West Godavari on Wednesday and consoled her family members.

Speaking on the occasion, she said that the state government would take all necessary measures to provide safety especially to the women at the backdrop of increasing violence against the women of late.

She appealed to the police to take up inquiry in an expeditious manner to ensure severe punishment to the culprit involved in the brutal murder of the woman and also attack on her friend Naveen.

Meanwhile, a women group arrived to the house and met the chairperson and asked her to prevail upon the state government to come up with stringent legislation to curb such violent activities especially against the women in the state.
