Hyderabad: A newly married woman was allegedly kidnapped by her family in the Gandhi Nagar area on Friday. A hunt is on to trace her.

Police said that D. Srikanth, 32, a businessman and K. Laxmipriya, 22, a degree student, belonging to the Kavadiguda area, were in love with each other since two years.

As their families opposed their marriage, they got married at the Arya Samaj on Friday morning.

The couple were returning to Srikanth's home after marriage in his car when Laxmi's family, on coming to know of the marriage, intercepted the car in the Bansilalpet area. "They broke the window panes, damaged the car, pulled out Laxmi and took her away forcefully," Gandhinagar SI Ramesh said.

Based on a complaint from Srikanth, a case of kidnap and damaging the vehicle was registered against Laxmi's family.
