Nellore: Exactly one week after the suicide of an engineering student Lakshmi Sai at Gudur, a first year degree student, Peddapudi Sruthi, 19, committed suicide by hanging to the ceiling fan at her home in Gudur on Tuesday. She is a B.Sc (Bio Chemistry) student at Duvvuru Ramanamma College in Gudur, and the exact reasons for the woman taking the extreme step are yet to be known.

Her father Peddapudi Veerabhadraiah alias Brahmaji is working in a factory at Gudur and her mother is a housewife. Her younger sister is studying intermediate and the family is living in Narasingaraopeta at Gudur. According to locals Sruthi was in depression since last week, allegedly, after her father refused her request to admit her in the agriculture course at Jaipur in Rajasthan.

She was found talking endlessly with someone over phone for the past three days. Taking advantage of the absence of family members at home, she hanged herself to death using her chunni on Tuesday afternoon. Her mother Lakshmi, with the help of neighbours, rushed her to hospital, after returning home but she breathed her last before reaching the hospital. Gudur II Town police have booked a case and shifted the body to the government hospital for post mortem.
