Unaccounted cash seized from NRI siblings

Hyderabad: Hyderabad police seized over Rs 1.78 cr unaccounted cash from two Dubai based NRIs at Asif Nagar late on Thursday. The duo told police that they were carrying the money for a property purchase in the city.

Meanwhile, South West Zone police seized 2 Kgs ganja during a search operation at Mangalhat on Thursday

DCP South West B Bala Swamy said that during vehicle checking, their teams intercepted two vehicles and on checking found Rs 1,78,30,000 cash in the vehicles.

The two persons identified as Mohammed Shahnawazuddin and Mohammed Shabuddin, both Hyderabad based siblings settled in Dubai, told the police that they were carrying the cash for buying a property. However, since they were not carrying any relevant documents, police seized the cash and handed it over to the Income Tax department for further investigation.

Police prima facie did not find any links to the elections with the seized cash, however it was found that they had come to the city two weeks ago.
