Sulemannagar wall collapse kills man
In the process he may have accidentally put pressure on the wall.
Hyderabad: A 35-year-old labourer was killed on the spot at Sulemannagar when an under construction wall fell on him. The owner and contractor of the building are absconding. Suspecting negligence by builders, police booked a case. The deceased was identified as Venkatesh, 30, a resident of Lingannapalli in Mahbubnagar district.
Police said that Venkatesh had gone to the construction site near Pillar Number 245, near the dairy farm in Rajendranagar as work was going on the ground floor of the building. Venkatesh was working along with four other labourers at the site which had an old compound wall surrounding it.
The incident occurred when Venkatesh tried to remove the iron rods placed near the wall. The wall collapsed and fell on him.
“On Saturday at around 12 noon Venkatesh tried to remove iron kept from near the wall and it collapsed. He went to the wall and tried to lift the iron rods from there without any help. In the process he may have accidentally put pressure on the wall. The upper part of the wall collapsed and fell on him. He sustained serious head injuries and died. The wall seemed to have been drenched by rains the previous night,” said SI Rajesh Reddy of Rajendranagar. The body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem.
