Mother, son kill daughters

Ramesh who was depressed after his wife's death, poisoned to death his mother and three daughters and committed suicide.

Hyderabad: Five members of a family including three kids were killed in a murder -cum-suicide bid in Nalgonda district on Saturday. Police said that Ramesh who was depressed after his wife's death, poisoned to death his mother and three daughters. Later, he also consumed the same poison and committed suicide.

Police said Ramesh’s family belonged to Hyderabad and shifted to Bhongir in Nalgonda nearly 20 years ago and were staying in a temporary hut in the Government Junior College Campus.

Ramesh, 40, and his wife Anjamma earned their living by selling makeup articles. The couple had three daughters Swarupa, 8, Kaveri, 5 and Nandini, 3. Ramesh’s mother Padmamma, 70, was also staying with them.

An year ago, Anjamma died and since then Padmamma was looking after the kids. Ramesh’s earnings were not enough to maintain his daughters and his mother. Depressed, Ramesh decided to end his life.

“On Friday night they came to a ground near Jagdevpur Gate. Ramesh and his mother consumed alcohol mixed with pesticide and later mixed the same in cold drinks and sweets and gave it to the kids,” said Bhongir DSP Sadhu Mohan Reddy.

And after consuming the pesticide they slept in the open. Passersby who noticed the bodies on Saturday alerted the police and then, the bodies were handed over after postmortem.
