Hyderabad: A woman, who works as an advocate, was arrested on Tuesday after her plan to implicate her ex-boyfriend in a case of drug peddling went wrong.

The accused, identified as Rinky, alias Saarna, had a grudge against ex-boyfriend Shravan Kumar due to his dalliance with another woman and planned to implicate him.

On December 23, she invited Shravan to a pub in Jubilee Hills after much pleading, ordered drinks for him and allegedly managed to steal his car keys without him noticing it. She then placed five packets of marijuana, weighing 40 grams in all, in the car, the police said.

Ensuring no one had seen her placing the contraband in the car, she tipped off the Jubilee Hills about a drug peddler, sharing Shravan’s car number.

The police, within 10 minutes of the call, inquired about the car, checked it and arrested Shravan. However, a probe found that Shravan was implicated, following which the police arrested Rinky and six drug peddlers, booking them under the NDPS Act.
