HYDERABAD: The South Zone Task Force and Bhavaninagar police cracked the murder of victim Syed Murtuza Ali Anas, nephew of an AIMIM corporator, with the arrest of two persons — food delivery executive Suleman Khan and Abdul Hamed Khan, who runs a chemicals shop — on Monday, allegedly over a rental dispute that fatally escalated.

Giving the backdrop against which the duo murdered Anas, DCP South zone P. Sai Chaitanya told reporters that it began when a city resident, Junaid, had approached the Khans some months back to get a woman tenant to vacate his premises. The three started harassing the tenant, the DCP said.

The woman approached AIMIM Bhavaninagar corporator Mohd Ali Shareef for help. He called the trio settle the matter. The three turned up at Shareef’s office at Edi Bazaar, and had an argument with the corporator. Police said Shareef along with Anas, who was present there, forced the three out of the office.

The three decided to settle scores, the DCP said. On December 19, Suleman Khan spotted Anas near a Mee Seva centre; both of them were there to submit their applications for a minority welfare loan. Suleman Khan met up with Hamed Khan at his shop in Rein Bazaar, picked up some weapons, tracked down and attacked Anas. The victim was rushed to a private hospital where he died due to excess bleeding.
