Hyderabad: A 23-year-old mechanic was arrested by the Saroornagar police for raping a 17-year-old girl by promising that he would marry her. The accused was remanded to judicial custody on Saturday after a potency test was conducted on him at the Osmania General Hospital.
According to the Saroornagar police, V. Mahesh, hailing from Nalgonda and a resident of Vishnupuri Colony in Saroornagar, had reportedly lured a minor from his neighbourhood by saying he would marry her, only to sexually exploit her.
Based on a complaint by the victim’s parents, Mahesh was arrested on Saturday under Sections 366, 376 (2) of IPC and section 5 r/w of PoCSO Act. He was sent to Osmania General Hospital for the potency test and was later sent to judicial remand, said the police.
