Chennai: Two held for series of residential burglaries

Further investigation revealed that they were the accused who had involved in a series of burglaries.

Chennai: The city police on Thursday arrested two men involved in more than 30 residential burglaries in Pallikaranai, Tambaram and Madipakkam areas. The accused were identified as Kumar (42) of Melmaruvathur and Vinoth Kumar (32) of Pattabiram.

According to sources, a special team of police headed by Pallikarani superintendent of police Albin Raj launched a hunt to nab burglars involved in series of residential burglaries in Pallikaranai, Tambaram and Madipakkam areas.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday night, the Pallikarani police were on a regular vehicle checkup when police stopped a two-wheeler. But the two men on the bike refused to stop the vehicle and fled. However, they were chased and caught by the officials.  They were interrogated, as they made contravening statements they were taken into custody.

Further investigation revealed that they were the accused who had involved in a series of burglaries. It is also found that the accused Kumar has more than 27 robbery and burglary cases against him and Vinoth Kumar had two attempts to murder cases against him.

Based on their inputs, police recovered 60 sovereigns of gold jewels, 500 grams of silver and a LED television from them. They were arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
