Visakhapatnam: Loan app traps Arilova woman

Woman got a shock when she received a message saying that if she didn't pay Rs 5K, then her nude photos will be shared to her all contacts

Visakhapatnam: Cyber criminals hacked the phone of a woman from Arilova in Visakhapatnam and started harassing her after she installed a loan app. The worried woman called the police and sought help.

According to Arilova police, the woman needed cash and installed Fast Cash, a loan app on her phone. She gave her details as per the loan app’s instructions. Soon after, the woman's friend called her and informed that her nude photos had been shared with her.

The distraught victim then realised that her phone had been hacked by cyber criminals. The woman got a shock when she received a threatening message that if she did not pay ₹5,000, her nude photos will be posted to all her contacts.

In panic, she called Disha SOS and complained.

Police reached the victim's location within 10 minutes and collected details of the loan app installed on the woman’s phone and the phone number from which the obscene messages and photos had been sent.

Police found that the loan app administrators had morphed the photos of the victim woman's Google account and sent them to the woman's husband, daughter and friend.

Disha police advised the woman not to come under any pressure and follow the instructions given by cyber police.

Arilova police said as per the complaint given by the victim, they are inquiring about the administrators of the loan app.

On the occasion, Disha police have warned people to be wary of online loan app scams.
