In a heart-rendering incident, a man working in a private company in Dharwad poisoned his wife and daughter before hanging himself to the ceiling of the room over apprehension of Covid-19 virus affecting his family. He was living in depression fearing that the Corona virus has infected his family though their throat swab samples were not tested.

This incident took place at Kavalikai Oni in Mehboob Nagar in Dharwad City during the wee hours on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as Mounesh Pattar (36), his wife Arpita (28), and his four-yr-old daughter Sukruta.

Hailing from Asuti village in Ron taluk of Gadag district Mounesh was working in Tata Marcopolo in Dharwad and was depressed since last one week over apprehension of the Covid-19 virus affecting him and his family members.

On Friday late night he reportedly poisoned his wife and daughter and committed suicide by hanging. The incident came to light on Saturday morning.

In the death note, Mounesh has stated that he was taking the extreme step after over 30 people in the industrial unit where he is employed have tested positive for Covid-19 and that he was apprehensive of the virus affecting him and his family members. His daughter too was falling sick repeatedly and his wife was suffering from low blood pressure.

The incident came to light on Saturday morning, and the Sub Urban police rushed to the spot on getting information from the neighbours.

The bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital for post-mortem. A case in this regard has been registered at the Sub Urban Police station, and further investigation is on.
