Karnataka: POCSO accused cop leaps to death

He allegedly tried to escape by jumping from the fourth floor of a court on Saturday, but he died.

Mangaluru: A Head Constable of Bajpe police station, who was arrested on charges of sexual harassment and under Pocso Act, died when he allegedly tried to escape by jumping from the fourth floor of a court on Saturday.

DCP (Crime) Sanjeev M Patil said that Head Constable Praveen was arrested on Saturday under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Praveen was being taken to the Second Additional District Sessions Court when he tried to escape by jumping from the fourth floor to the second floor. He was taken to the Government Wenlock Hospital for treatment. But he died late in the evening.

Police sources said that Praveen was arrested after a complaint was registered against him for allegedly trying to videograph a woman and her minor daughter in her bathroom.He was being taken to court when he tried to escape by jumping from the fourth floor.
