Hyderabad: Woman killed over monetary dispute

The accused was identified as, Nagaraju, 32 and his wife was identified as, Gavvalamma, 28, police said.

Hyderabad: A woman was strangled to death by her husband on Friday morning in Devarakonda Basti in Banjara Hills. 

The accused was identified as, Nagaraju, 32 and his wife was identified as, Gavvalamma, 28, police said. 

They added that both were natives of Khammam and were residing in Hyderabad for six years and were roadside food vendors. 

According to the police, there was an argument between the couple regarding their earnings, as the woman was earning more by selling coconuts than her the husband’s food business.

ACP Banjara Hills, K. Srinivasa Rao, said that preliminary investigation revealed that Nagaraju strangled his wife over financial disputes and fled. 

“A case has been booked under Section 302 (murder) of IPC against the husband and a manhunt has been launched to nab him,” said the official. 

The body of the woman was shifted to hospital for post-mortem, the official added.
