Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a marketing executive was assaulted by an RTC bus conductor and the driver for not taking a ticket for the journey.

Though the passenger pleaded that he boarded a wrong bus, the conductor and the driver pushed him down and beat him with wooden logs. The LB Nagar police on Thursday arrested the conductor, Ch. Yadagiri, and the driver, Y. Dilleshwar, who belonged to the Kukatpally depot and were remanded.

The victim, S. Lakshmaiah, from LB Nagar was travelling to Hayathnagar on January 1. He boarded a wrong bus at LB Nagar Ring Road, which was heading towards Vanasthali-puram. The conductor noticed him and asked for the ticket. He said that he was in a wrong bus and was about to get down. The conductor got angry and started abusing him. Lakshmaiah asked the conductor to apologise.

Hearing the din, the driver stopped the bus and Lakshmaiah was pushed out of the bus and the conductor and the driver started pelting stones. Unable to bear the pain, the victim took to his feet and hid himself in a construction site.“The driver and the conductor chased me and beat me with wooden logs,” said Lakshmaiah.

The arrests were reported after a gap of 25 days. Though the case was registered, there was a delay. “Whenever I inquire, the police had an excuse,” the victim added.
