Eluru sub-registrar booked for sexual harassment

KAKINADA: Disha police have booked a sexual harassment case against sub-registrar (Audit) of Eluru in West Godavari district.

According to Disha Police Station sub-inspector V. Ramakoteswara Rao, accused sub-registrar D. Jaya Raju had been transferred to Eluru Registrar Office from I. Polavaram five months ago.

After assuming charge, he allegedly started sexually harassing a subordinate woman employee. About a month ago, she complained to superior officials against the officer. Following this, a higher officer reprimanded Jaya Raju warning him from continuing such behaviour. However, the sub-registrar continued harassing the woman sexually.

Following this, the woman formally lodged a complaint against Jaya Raju.
SI Ramakoteswara Rao said they have registered a case against the sub-registrar under 354 A. A charge sheet will be filed within 14 days as per Disha guidelines.
