HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad special operations team police arrested two members of a ‘chaddi gang’ for theft in various localities, including Miyapur and three villas in Ameenpur. The accused hailed from Dahod, Gujarat, and two other gang members were absconding, said Madhapur DCP G. Sandeep.

He said the gang did not carry weapons during their operations, as against a gang from Madhya Pradesh that was armed. They are called chaddi gangs because they wear undergarments while burgling houses.

DCP Sandeep said the SOT had confiscated 8 tolas of gold from the gang members. The gang had sold 22 tolas of gold to a recipient. He said the gangs reconnoitre areas and select locked houses to break into. They return to their native place after a robbery.

Sandeep asked the public to install advanced locker systems equipped with alarms and contact the police if they noticed suspicious movements.
